The Bank of England is set to announce an interest rate cut on Thursday, following its August policy meeting, according to one expert. 'We think there is going to be a rate cut and also likely some additional stimulus,' said Maximilian Kunkel, cross-asset strategist at UBS Wealth Management, based in Zurich. 'We're expecting a 25 basis point cut.' This is the central bank's second meeting since the June 23 Brexit vote. While many question the efficacy of a 25 basis point cut, Kunkel said it's a symbolically significant move to assure investors that the UK is committed to stimulating the economy.
