Russell Price, sr. economist at Ameriprise, expects nonfarm payrolls to increase by 180,000, in-line with the consensus estimate, although slightly lighter than the job growth seen in July.
On Wednesday, the ADP Employment report showed a much better than expected 237,000 private payrolls added in August. This report tends to foreshadow the government's official jobs report.
Plus, Price expects wages to grow, but acknowledged that inflation isn't rising as unemployment falls, a trend often discussed in textbook economic theory.
