Guess Spikes on Earnings; Markets Mixed With Nasdaq Trading Higher
U.S. markets were mixed at Thursday's midday trading with just the Nasdaq going for gains. Earnings drove big moves in some stocks including Guess (GES). The retailer surged 16% after beating estimates by $0.06 a share. Lennar (LEN) rose after posting better-than-expected quarterly results on both the top and bottom lines. America's second largest homebuilder also reported an 18% rise in new home orders. Despite reporting Q4 earnings in line with estimates. Williams & Sonoma (WSM) missed on the revenue side and lowered guidance. The high-end retailer was also downgraded at BB&T Capital Markets to a HOLD from BUY. Nike (NKE) traded flat ahead of its earnings release after the bell. Wall Street is expecting quarterly earnings of $0.84 a share and $7.6 billion in revenue.
