Google said it is partnering with researchers to develop new processors for quantum computing systems. The processors will be based on superconducting electronics and be aimed at delivering higher speed and more power. In a post on Google's research blog, director of engineering Hartmut Neven said a team from the University of California at Santa Barbara will join Google in the initiative. That team is helmed by John Martinis, who recently was awarded the London Prize for pioneering advances in quantum control processing. The initiative is at the Quantum Artificial Intelligence Lab, which is a joint initiative of NASA, Universities Space Research Association and Google.
