Google Has Set its Sights on the Billion Customers in India
The Silicon Valley icon is reportedly set to launch a mobile payment app in the country
Google (GOOGL) - Get Report has set its sights on India's billion customers as it looks set to launch a mobile payment app in the country in the next week, according to Indian news site The Ken.
Payment apps can prove quite profitable for operators as they can skim percentages from transaction costs or charge to advertise the seller's products.
Google's previous attempts to launch mobile payments systems haven't been overly successful, with the company launching Android Pay after the failure of Google Wallet.
