Google Axes Employee Who Wrote Controversial Memo About Females
Google (GOOGL) - Get Report fired the employee who wrote that women were biologically less suited to be engineers than men. The engineer, identified in various media as James Damore, emailed Bloomberg to say he was fired for 'perpetuating gender stereotypes'. Google didn't comment. Google's CEO reportedly sent a note to employees saying that part of the engineer's memo violated the company's code of conduct by advancing 'harmful gender stereotypes'. Uber founder and controversial former CEO Travis Kalanick will not be coming back to the company. Co-founder and Board member Garrett Camp said Travis is not returning as CEO and says Uber is commited to hiring a new world class CEO to lead the company. JPMorgan Chase (JPM) has canceled a popular debit card program. The Wall Street Journal says customers no longer can replace lost cards at branches in a move driven partly by an increase in fraud.
