Goldman Sachs Earnings Cheered but a Deeper Look is Troubling
Goldman Sachs earnings may be getting a big cheer for beating estimates, but a deeper dive into the earnings release uncovers some troubling items.
Stocks are trading lower as more companies report earnings. Goldman Sachs reported earnings per share of $15.46, higher than last year's $14.13 per share, and the stock is moving higher in early trading. However, Q4 net income came in at $2.33 billion, down 19% from last year. Equity underwriting revenue doubled from Q3 to Q4 which reflects a strong IPO market. TheStreet's Debra Borchardt breaks down the earnings report.
