GM's Head of Product Development Mark Reuss says the world's largest automaker has made great strides over the past year to fix decade-old safety issues. Reuss said GM has removed silos of product development and is now taking a more integrated approach. 'We really took a hard look at product development and really started from ground zero both with people the way we are organized,' said Reuss at the 2015 New York Auto Show. GM is unveiling nine new models in New York. Reuss said, 'GM has not had world class cars for a number of years, but that's changing with the Malibu.' The 2016 Malibu is 300 pounds lighter than its predecessor and the hybrid version gets 47 miles a gallon. On the sales front, Reuss said GM is hitting its stride and is being 'very diligent not to overspend or change its break even point.' TheStreet's Ruben Ramirez reports from the New York Auto Show.
