'Glenfiddich The Original' is a unique Scotch whisky inspired by the 1963 Straight Malt that effectively established the single malt category as we know it today, said Peter Gordon, Director of William Grant & Sons. Gordon added that Glenfiddich was founded by his great great-grandfather so he has been careful not to 'water down' the brand. He said Chinese whisky sales have been muted of late due to regulations, but should recover in the coming year. Finally, he said Irish whiskey sales have been very strong in recent years, but that strength is not cannibalizing Scotch whisky revenue.
