Get Ready for All Day Breakfast at McDonald's, But Will it Help Sales?

McDonald's (MCD) responds to customers who have been asking for years for all day breakfast. Today, the fast food chain will roll out the option nationwide after testing it in some markets. Time will tell if the hype translates into a significant improvement in sales or profits. But we do know that Americans' appetite for breakfast is growing, according to research. The NPD Group says breakfast visits grew 5% in the 12 months ending in June where lunch and dinner visits were flat. There is a shake-up at the top at DuPont (DD). CEO Ellen Kullman is out as of October 16th. The company is also warning that sales and profits will fall short, mainly on weakness in the agricultural sector and currency fluctuations. The European Union issued a ruling against Facebook (FB) that could have implications for all U.S. tech companies doing business in Europe. The EU's highest court ruled in favor of an Austrian law student who says U.S. government surveillance shouldn't be in effect when users of the technology are in Europe.
