General Motors to Face Revived Lawsuit Over Ignition Switch Defect

A judge has ruled against General Motors in its attempt to have a revived lawsuit tied to its ignition switch defect dismissed. The lawsuit was brought against the automaker by the parents of a 29-year-old woman who died as a result of the defect in her Chevy Cobalt. The parents' original lawsuit was settled last year, but a second one was filed in May, which claimed GM fraudulently hid defects in the Cobalt and withheld evidence. In a statement, GM said it is disappointed with the court's decision and continues to believe its settlement last year and prior court order prevents plaintiffs from pursuing the same claims a second time.
