Nearly half of the vehicles recalled by General Motors due to a defective ignition switch have still reportedly not been fixed, nearly nine months after the automaker first issued a recall. That's according to a report by the New York Times, which says that just 53% of the 2.36 million cars recalled have been repaired as of last week. This, as the list of victims claims is growing, with Kenneth Feinberg, the lawyer handling GM's victims compensation fund, receiving four new death claims and 174 new claims for injuries that required hospitalization in the past week, a 12% increase from the prior week. To date, Feinberg's office has deemed 30 claims for fatalities to be eligible for compensation and 31 for those who were injured, of the 1,772 total claims it has received.
