GE Sees More Divestitures in 2015, Light Bulb Division Likely to Go
General Electric says it's planning to sell off more of its businesses in 2015. That's after GE sold its appliance business this year for $3.3 billion. CEO Jeffrey Immelt is going through with his vision of a 'preeminent infrastructure company.' The light bulb division is reportedly the next division to go. In a recent interview, Immelt said, 'For me to say we're done with divestitures would be lying. We always are working to make GE Capital smaller.' GE appointed its head dealmaker, John Flannery, to run GE Healthcare this week. It's one of the handful high level changes over the past year and half, which included Jeff Bornstein taking over as the CFO. Immelt said healthcare will be the core of GE in the foreseeable future and everything else will be evaluated on how they fit with healthcare.
