'Furious 7' Breaks International Records, 'Avengers' Sequel Looms
'Furious 7' led the U.S. box office for a fourth straight week and became the third ever film to take $1 billion internationally. The action movie raked in $18.3 million over the weekend and has now grossed $1.3 billion globally. Universal's 'Furious 7' has also proved to be a large scale hit in China where it set a record box office intake of $323 million. There was speculation the movie could not be completed after the star Paul Walker was tragically killed in a car crash midway through filming. Now the only two films to have grossed higher internationally are James Cameron's blockbusters 'Avatar' and 'Titanic'. But 'Furious 7's box office domination looks set to be toppled with the release of Marvel's 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' the comic book sequel geared up overseas with a massive $201.2 million debut. The latest installment in the superhero franchise will open in the U.S. on Thursday night.
