Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman on Donald Trump, China’s Economic Woes
Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman (R) said Donald Trump will probably win the New Hampshire primary if he’s able to get people to the polls. ‘It’s very likely that he will [win the New Hampshire primary],’ he said. ‘I think the trick here is going to be his get out the vote effort, and no one can tell you if he has any handle organizationally within the state on his get out the vote capability. But if he’s able to get out the vote, at least those who have stated a preference for him, I think he’s going to do very strong.’ Though Huntsman added that voters don’t make a decision until the very end. Huntsman also shared his views on the economic woes in China that have tanked global markets. Huntsman was former U.S. Ambassador to China. ‘I think it’s beyond dispute that they’ve departed from the old economic model – the investment led export machine, which they’ve benefited [from] for 30 years,’ Huntsman said. ‘If [China] wants to be a respected reserve currency as opposed to just a regionally relevant currency, which is what they’ve been in recent years, they’re going to have to have a basket that is more consistent with the global marketplace.’ TheStreet’s Scott Gamm has details from New York.
