Ford Motor (F) has unveiled its new 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty truck, with high hopes that the new vehicle will help further drive truck sales, thanks to several innovations in the new model. ‘We expect this truck to help us improve sales even more because of the technological advances,’ said Joe Hinrichs, Executive Vice President and President of the Americas at Ford. Some of those advances include a new high-strength steel frame. ‘We’ve made that 95% high-strength steel, so that’s 24 times stiffer than the previous generation truck,’ said Hinrichs. ‘And we’ve also put our military-grade aluminum alloy body onto this truck like we did on our F-150, which takes some weight down,’ said Hinrichs. The new model will be 350 pounds lighter than the current model, which improves fuel efficiency and towing. The latest model truck also includes many new driver-assisted technologies, perhaps more typical in a passenger car than a truck used to haul materials.
