Takata airbags are causing further problems for Ford. The car manufacturer is expanding its recall to include over 85,000 vehicles. The latest recall extends to Ranger pickup trucks made between 2004 and 2005. This comes after a fatal accident in Malaysia exposed additional defects in the safety airbags. Ten car makers across the U.S have had to recall 7.8 million vehicles after the Takata airbags sent shrapnel into drivers and passengers. Ford is offering to replace the inflatable safety devices for all listed models. As yet there have been no reported incidents of airbags rupturing in the American Ford Ranger models. Tokyo-based parts maker Takata is currently undergoing an investigation.
