Ford Features Revamped, High Tech Fusion Unveiled at Detroit Auto Show
Ford Motor (F) unveiled what it called its ‘smartest’ ever Fusion at the North American Auto Show in Detroit. The new Fusions include a pedestrian detection system, along with other high-tech features. Ford CEO Mark Fields said the automaker wants to use the Fusion to solidify its position in the midsize car market. Fields also discussed broader industry trends for 2016, saying the auto industry could see continued growth even after a record year for sales in 2016. Fields cited the strength of the consumer, thanks to a healthy job market, low interest rates, and low gas prices. He also commented on incentives, saying automakers will have to continue to offer incentives for consumers looking to purchase cars, as vehicles buyers continue to gravitate to trucks and SUVs. Looking abroad, Fields said he expects sales in China will be ‘relatively good’ in 2016. TheStreet's Rhonda Schaffler has details from the Detroit Auto Show.
