Ford CEO Unveils Amazon Echo Deal, Sees Self-Driving Cars By 2020

Ford Motor (F) President and CEO Mark Fields took to the stage at CES in Las Vegas and promised that 2016 will be a revolutionary year for the auto industry. Fields made several announcements, including that the automaker was teaming up with Amazon (AMZN) to link connected cars with Amazon Echo, a smart home technology. But Fields didn't announce a partnership with Google (GOOG) on self driving cars, which had been speculated in the media. Fields did say Ford is tripling its fleet of autonomous cars. While Ford has given no specific target as to when self driving cars will be available for consumers, Fields said he wouldn't be surprised if the industry could achieve that goal by 2020. Fields also discussed the latest with Ford's SYNC technology and an initiative on drones with TheStreet's Rhonda Schaffler.
