Thousands of climate change activists marched down Broadway on Monday in an attempt to reach Wall Street, where police blocked entrance to the area around the New York Stock Exchange. The protest and sit-in followed Sunday's People's Climate March, attended by more than 100,000 people. Monday's largely peaceful protest turned confrontational when officers arrested a handful of participants, including one protestor who refused to get off of a phone booth. Activists said they were marching to Wall Street to push corporations to support legislative and international efforts aimed at curbing gas emissions that cause climate change.
