Financial News From Around The World: Investors Focus on Key Corporate Earnings
Round-up of the financial news from around the world:
European stocks are opened higher Monday, kicking off a week that will focus on key corporate earnings and a series of central bank releases and speeches amid increasing questions over the direction of monetary policy in the U.S. and Europe.
The U.S. dollar edged higher in overnight trading in Asia as investors continued to bet on the prospect of significant tax reform from President Donald Trump, which he has said will be revealed in the coming weeks.
The yen was also held down by modestly weaker-than-expected GDP data, which showed the domestic economy grew at a 1% annualized pace in the final three months of last year.
Global oil prices drifted lower in a quiet session, as the dollar pared some of crude's recent advance and traders shifted focus to increasing U.S. supply.
