Technical factors like low bond issuance and shorts in the marketplace are tamping down Treasury yields, but investors should not unload their government bonds because they play a valuable role in a diversified portfolio, says Bob Brown, president of bonds at Fidelity. Brown also says sporadic economic data and strong foreign buying are also keeping investors from selling out of their Treasury positions. Finally, he says the market is a long way from a normal interest rate curve due to the Federal Reserve's interference and the economy is not seeing enough economic growth for the Fed to back off anyway.
