FedEx and UPS Hope to Deliver On Time as Stocks Extend Santa Rally
Stocks are extending gains from the so-called 'Santa rally' on very light volume at Wednesday's opening bell.
Stocks extended gains from the so-called 'Santa rally' on very light volume at Wednesday's opening bell. Santa Claus did come to town and landed right on Wall Street Tuesday. Fewer than expected Americans filed for unemployment benefits last week. First time claims dropped for the fourth straight week. UPS (UPS) and FedEx (FDX) are hoping to get packages by Christmas. The Wall Street Journal is reporting both companies accepted a limited number of air express deliveries ahead of the holidays to avoid last year's delay disaster. The markets are observing the holidays. Wednesday, the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq will close at 1p. All the markets including the bond market will be closed on Thursday, Christmas Day.
