Investors are bracing for lots of Federal Reserve speak Wednesday. No less than 3 Fed presidents will be giving speeches on monetary policy and the economy. Richmond's Jeffrey Lacker addresses the question 'can monetary policy affect economic growth'. Dallas's Robert Kaplan gives his take on the outlook for the U.S economy and St. Louis's James Bullard does the same in a separate speech. Oil is, again, the catalyst for stock market direction. Stocks and crude prices are under pressure after the Saudis said a cut in oil output will not happen, however a freeze in production at current levels is a possibility. Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Stanley Fischer says while there is no plan to use negative rates in the United States, the matter is under study. New home sales for January are issued.
