Federal Reserve Officials Are Out and About Today, Giving Speeches
Officials from the Federal Reserve will blanket the country today, giving speeches that may yield clues on the future of interest rates. Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen addresses the Economic Club of Washington. Dennis Lockhart of the Atlanta Fed will speak in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Daniel Tarullo, who sits on the Board of Governors, speaks in Washington. San Francisco Fed President John Williams will give a speech in Portland, Oregon this afternoon. The Board of Yahoo (YHOO) will discuss potentially selling the beleaguered internet company's core business during a series of marathon meetings that get underway today. The Wall Street Journal says directors will also discuss whether to move forward with plans to spin off Yahoo's 15% stake in the Alibaba (BABA) Group, the Chinese e-commerce giant. Shutterfly's (SFLY) CEO is stepping down. Jeffrey Housenbold says he will leave the company in February because 'it's time to recharge batteries'.
