President-elect Donald Trump is discussing investing in the nation's infrastructure, and Fitch Ratings says such investments would be a positive for state governments. Laura Porter, who heads state ratings for Fitch, says the lack of federal investment in infrastructure, and specifically transportation, has resulted in the states having to take more action in recent years. Fitch recently released its 2017 outlook for states, giving the majority of states stable ratings, despite uncertainties created by the impending change of government in Washington, D.C.
