Facebook is reportedly planning to move into the health care arena by creating online 'support communities' that would connect Facebook users suffering from similar ailments. A team at Facebook is also said to be considering new 'preventative care' applications, according to Reuters, which cited three people familiar with the matter. The report says Facebook has met with medical industry experts and set up a research-and-development team to test potential apps. As pharmaceutical companies are not allowed to advertise prescription drugs on Facebook, it says advertising opportunities with the venture would be limited.
