Facebook Debuts Live Video Streaming Feature: Here’s How it Works
Facebook (FB) is the latest to launch a live video streaming feature, but it's exclusive. The company is giving their celebrity users with verified pages special treatment. The social media giant debuts its live video streaming feature that allows high-profile users to reach out to fans in real time. Public figures can start a live broadcast on Facebook, which appears on the news feeds of their followers. Fans will also receive an alert when the VIP starts a live stream. During the broadcast, viewers can Facebook ‘like’, share the stream, and comment on the video allowing for interaction and even some Q&A with celebrities. After the stream is finished, the recorded version will appear on the Facebook page of the host for video-on-demand viewing. Some of the first active stars include Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, tennis player Serena Williams, singer Michael Buble, musician Luke Bryan and ski racer Lindsey Vonn. TheStreet’s Kurumi Fukushima reports in New York.
