Exxon Mobil Misses on Fourth-Quarter Earnings
Exxon Mobil's earnings results came in below estimates.
Exxon Mobil (XOM) - Get Report reported quarterly earnings that came in well below analyst estimates. Exxon's profit totaled 41 cents a share, while analysts were looking for results of 70 cents a share. The oil giant reported revenue of $6.1 billion, which was higher than the year-ago period, but still slightly below Wall Street's consensus estimates.
Exxon said an upstream asset impairment charge related to its gas operations in the Rocky Mountain region impacted results. The company says it was also hurt by the downturn in commodity prices.
