European stock indices rise as a stream of corporate updates distract investors from wider macro-economic and geopolitical worries. Dutch chemicals maker Azko Nobel, U.K. engineer GKN , Swiss pharmaceuticals company Actelion and lender Swedbank are among the gainers, while U.K. online clothing company Asos soars as investors looked beyond an expected 14% decline in full-year pretax profit. In France oil producer Total rises with sector peers despite sad news in the early hours that its chairman and CEO Christophe de Margerie had died with three others in a corporate jet crash.
