European Bonds Offer Opportunities Says Babson Fund Manager

Corporate bond opportunities abound in Europe, especially in Germany where a weakening Euro is helping exporters, said Michael Freno, portfolio manager for the Babson Global Credit Income Opportunities Fund. Freno added that the United Kingdom's economy is in very good shape as well, benefiting British corporate issuers. He said he is more selective when it comes to French corporate bonds, however, due to the country's troubled economy and diminished creditor rights. Finally, Freno said he prefers telecom and cable issues from companies located in Southern Europe where the economies continue to be troubled.
