EU Launches Legal Case Over Fiat Chrysler's Emissions Scandal

The EU will begin legal proceedings against Italy over Fiat Chrysler's emissions cheating scandal. EU officials have accused governments, including Italy, of colluding with car makers and are now seeking to use their full power to clamp down on companies that do not follow the law.

EU regulators believe that companies in Italy have used software to mask emissions, although companies have hit back and claimed their behaviour is legal and justified. 

This follows other cases that the EU Commission began against European nations in December, including Germany and the United Kingdom.
