Etsy Prepares for Its IPO, Prices at $16 a Share, High End of Range

Etsy (ETSY) will begin trading today on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol ETSY. The online marketplace brings together people who want to buy and sell handmade and vintage items. Etsy priced its initial public offering at $16 a share, the high end of the expected range. The deal raised a total of $267 million, putting the value of Etsy at $1.8 billion dollars. Netflix (NFLX) membership soared last quarter past 60 million. Shares in the company soared as well. Netflix posted a 24 percent sales gain in the most recent quarter as the video streaming service's subscriber base grew more than expected. Sandisk though saw profit drop 86%.
