Stocks were flat Wednesday morning as investors anxiously await the Fed minutes out this afternoon. Etsy (ETSY) plummeted after reporting results for the first quarter since its market debut. The online craft marketplace posted a surprise loss of $0.84 a share. Analysts had expected breakeven earnings. Lowe's tumbled after missing analysts' quarterly targets. The home improvement retailer earned $0.70 a share, short forecasts of $0.75. Yahoo! (YHOO) was coming back from big losses suffered over the final minutes of trading yesterday. The company had plunged on reports it could face regulatory challenges in its planned spinoff of its ownership stake in Alibaba (BABA).
