Tesla (TSLA) - Get Tesla Inc Report CEO Elon Musk and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders are known for taking jabs at each other on social media. They both have publicly fought on Twitter (TWTR) - Get Twitter, Inc. Report for a long time.
This weekend, the flight got uglier. Sanders, who is a strong proponent of taxing the super-rich like Musk demanded that "the extremely wealthy pay their fair share."
To which, Musk responded: "I keep forgetting that you are still alive."
Musk, who recently sold nearly $7 billion Tesla stock last week, asked Bernie if he wanted him to sell more Tesla stock.
Musk continued by tweeting, “Bernie is a taker, not a maker.”
This is not the first time these two high-profile individuals have fought in the public sphere. On March 18, Sanders took a jab at Musk and Amazon (AMZN) - Get Amazon.com, Inc. Report founder Jeff Bezos’ wealth suggesting that the inequality is “immoral.”
In response, Musk said he is accumulating resources to “help make life multi-planetary…”
However, Sanders further responded to Musk saying he should “focus on Earth.”
