The ECB is sitting tight, despite the faltering state of the eurozone economy. The European central bank left interest rates unchanged at a record low of 0.05% at its meeting in Frankfurt on Thursday. Rather than injecting further monetary support to the sluggish economy, the bank stuck to its existing stimulus programs even as the eurozone economy floundered at the end of the third quarter. Very low inflation and slow growth across Europe is increasing pressure on the central bank to do more to prop up the region's economy. Analysts remain nervous that weak growth in Germany could push the Eurozone into a triple dip recession.
