Busiest Day of Earnings Season Tops Wall Street Focus Thursday
Some 50 companies will report their quarterly earnings Thursday, making it the busiest day of this earnings season. Among the companies reporting today--Amazon (AMZN), General Motors (GM), and McDonald's (MCD). So far, most analysts believe this earnings season has been going well except for a handful of tech stocks that disappointed this week. Bank of America (BAC) is undergoing a management shake-up. Bruce Thompson, the company's Chief Financial Officer for more than 5 years, will step down according to CEO Brian Moynihan. Thompson will be replaced with long time Bank of America executive Paul Donofrio on August 1. American Express (AXP) had a mixed quarter. Profit topped expectations but the strong U.S. dollar hurt spending overseas. American Express shares are down 15 percent since the beginning of the year.
