Dump Obamacare, Flatten Tax Code to Revive America Says Steve Forbes
America has indeed lost its 'mojo' and the best way to regain it is by reforming taxes, healthcare and the Federal Reserve, said Steve Forbes, author of Reviving America. 'Millions of people have dropped out of the work force, which is why 60% of the American people feel we are still in a recession,' said Forbes. 'Most American workers have seen their real wages decline over the last seven or eight years so they think rightly they are going backwards and not forwards.' Forbes is the chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media. According to Forbes, Obamacare has made the healthcare system worse not better. In his view it has caused a decline in the availability and quality of care, while accelerating a physician shortage and depressing medical innovation. In his view, Obamacare should be repealed and the patient, not the government, should be put in control of the healthcare selection and payment process. 'Consumerism is about patients having the real say in where healthcare dollars go, which they don’t have today,' said Forbes. 'And that’s going to change.' Forbes also stressed that the nation’s tax code is far too complex and confusing. His solution, as he has stated many times before, is a flat tax that would de-clutter the system and allow Americans to fill out their returns on a single page. Forbes third prescription for reviving America is to return to a gold standard.
