Dubai's Emirates Airline Ends World Cup Sponsorship Deal With FIFA
Emirates will not renew its world cup sponsorship for 2018 and 2022.
Dubai airline Emirates has ended its world cup sponsorship deal with FIFA. Emirates will not renew its world cup sponsorship for 2018 and 2022. The airline announced that FIFA's contract proposal did not meet expectations. The six world cup partners from 2014 paid a combined $700 million for the four year commercial cycle. Emirates has partnered with FIFA for the last 3 World Cup tournaments through 2014. Qatar Airways, host of the 2022 World Cup, has been suggested as a possible replacement. FIFA has refused to comment on the ongoing negotiations but said it respects Emirates' decision to restructure its sponsorship strategy.
