Dow March to 20,000 Resumes After Stocks Came Within a Whisker Friday

There are lots of events this week that could push the Dow Jones Industrial Average above the 20,000 milestone. Big banks begin reporting earnings and several Federal Reserve officials will be out on the speaking circuit, including Chair Janet Yellen. General Motors (GM) - Get Report  CEO Mary Barra says the automaker does not plan to change its production plans for the Mexican-built Chevrolet Cruze hatchback, which was called out in a tweet last week by President-elect Donald Trump. Barra said it was too early to talk about possible tariffs and the impact on GM. Fiat Chrysler (FCA) - Get Report , meanwhile, will invest $1 billion to retool and modernize two plants in Ohio and Michigan. One would be able to make the Ram heavy-duty pick up truck that is currently produced in Mexico. The British pound is getting pounded as U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May made comments over the weekend indicating a hard Brexit is likely.
