Dow Drops 100 Points at the Opening Bell Ahead of Q3 Earnings Season
Stocks dropped at the opening bell Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial fell more than 100 points. Investors are worried about the economy in Europe as they cautiously wait for the start of the third quarter earnings season. Before the bell, the International Monetary Fund downgraded its global growth forecast. For next year, the organization is projecting growth to come in at less than the previous estimate of 4%. Amazon (AMZN) will face an in-depth European Union probe into a tax deal with Luxembourg. Tax disputes in India is the reason Nokia (NOK) is shutting down its factory there next month. Shares of Nokia are lower in early trading. SodaStream (SODA) is warning its Q3 revenue will be much below previous estimates. The company is blaming weak sales in the U.S. as the main reason for its disappointing performance.
