Dow and S&P 500 Rocket to Records on Hopes for Senate Tax Passage
The Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 ended Thursday at records to close out the month.
Gains picked up speed after Sen. John McCain voiced support for the Senate GOP tax bill, boosting the chances it can make it through a floor vote. A Senate vote could come late Thursday or on Friday.
The Dow and S&P 500 ended November in the green. That marked its eighth straight month of gains.
Crude oil prices fluctuated before ending slightly higher even after Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and other oil-producing nations secured an extension to a production cut agreement. The extension was as expected.
