Four years after crossing the 20,000 point benchmark, the Dow Jones Industrial passed 30,000 points in intraday trading Tuesday.
As of 11:30 A.M. ET, the Dow was up 1.42%, the Nasdaq was up 0.96% and the S&P was up 1.39%.
Markets were driven around continued optimism amid the race to a coronavirus vaccine with three effective candidates from Pfizer (PFE) - Get Pfizer Inc. Report, Moderna (MRNA) - Get Moderna, Inc. Report and AstraZeneca (AZN) - Get Astrazeneca PLC Sponsored ADR Report as well as the beginning of the transition of power to President-elect Joe Biden.
Monday, the Trump administration authorized the General Services Administration (GSA) to begin the formal transition process, though President Donald Trump has yet to concede to Biden.
Biden is expected to announce former Fed chair Janet Yellen as his pick to search as Secretary of the Treasury.
