The President said "they owe a lot of money to your friends on Wall Street and we're going to have to wipe that out. You're going to say goodbye to that." Puerto Rico has nearly $70 billion in debt and a 45% poverty rate.
Trump visited Puerto Rico on Tuesday, 12 days after Hurricane Maria destroyed the island's infrastructure, where he stated that the territory has thrown America's budget "out of whack".
