Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump? Can Halloween masks purchases shed light on who will win the election? Maybe. And with the election right around the corner, even Halloween has become political. Since 1996, Spirit Halloween has correctly predicted the winner of each presidential election. They use their 'Presidential Mask Index.' It's based simply on the number of presidential candidate masks sold. "The hype around the election as we already know is like none other right now," said Trisha Lombardo, of Spirit Halloween stores. "So the hype around the masks is the same." Based on sales so far it doesn't look good for Hillary. "Right now our 'cry baby Trump' is in the lead as far as our political masks go, but right here we have HBIC Hillary and she is not falling far behind. She will not be left in the dust," Lombardo said. According to a poll by Harris Poll and Spirit Halloween, 55% of people polled said they would dress up as Trump and 45% said they would dress up as Clinton. While 39% will be Trump to be funny, 31% will be Clinton because they like her. But there's a catch. Thirty-two of those polled want to mock Trump, while only 16% want to mock Clinton. "So he might be taking the lead, but we're not taking that too seriously," Lombardo highlighted. So grab the mask for $12.99, a wig, and even a American flag jacket and you can become a presidential candidate for a day.
