"We do not consider ourselves traders, we are long-term investors, which is why our third rule is don't let a short-term headwind cloud your focus on a great long-term investment," Cramer told Action Alerts Plus members during his November members call.

"This one is crucial, especially from a market like this where the short-term can be incredibly painful despite the lucrative longer-term opportunities," said Cramer. "That, by the way, are fully intact for so many of these names that are getting thrown out because of [the Federal Reserve] or China."

Cramer gave members a list of topics that include Palo Alto Networks (PANW) - Get Report , Amazon (AMZN) - Get Report , Paypal (PYPL) - Get Report .

"When you don't think long-term, you tend to pass up the opportunities that are only available to the patient, as painful as being patient might be," Cramer advised.
