Do you Spend More Than the Average Person on Lunch Each Day?
How much are you spending on lunch per year? Most people don't know, but keeping track of how much you spend can help you manage your income and possibly save money. And when TheStreet went out on Wall Street during lunch time and asked people how much they thought they spent on lunch eat year, the range was from $10,000 to $1,000, but most people had never thought about it. According to a recent Visa (V) survey, American consumers are spending an average of $2,746 a year -- that's $53 a week, or nearly $8 a day on lunch while dining out, eating at home, or bringing their lunch. And if you are from the South, you spent the most out of all regions at $2,953. The Northeast came in second, followed by the Midwest, and the West last at $2,489. While $8 a day sounds like a manageable amount to spend on that salad, pizza, or lunch sandwich, financial advisor, Ric Edelman, chairman and CEO of Edelman Financial Services, said that not being aware of how much spend on a daily basis can have a profound impact on your savings.
