While Dicker believes it is a very dangerous game to try and call a bottom, it can also be very tempting. Dicker points out three strategies: Buying beaten down, high Beta shale players with bankruptcy risk; Buying stronger E+P players that are positioned to survive a long period of depressed oil prices and finally buying the 'vultures' who are looking to buy oil assets for pennies on the dollar.
