Diageo Is Bringing a Taste of Ireland to Maryland
Diageo is planning to bring a brewery to Maryland to make Guinness beer.
Diaego (DEO) - Get Report is bringing a taste of Ireland to Maryland. The company is planning to build a brewery in the state to make versions of its Guinness stout tailored to the American market.
London-based Diageo announced on Tuesday it will create a version of its Dublin-based Guinness brewery in Maryland, building a mid-sized brewery with a packaging and warehouse operation and a visitor center. There will also be a microbrewery and taproom for sampling experimental beers.
Diageo stock was up in the first hour of trading on Wednesday, having gained 15.5% over the past 52 weeks, as sales benefit from a weaker pound since the U.K. voted to leave the European Union in June.
