DHL Express Projects 12% Package Volume Increase During the Holiday Season
It's the busy season for packaging companies like DHL Express, which is ramping up investment and preparing for a spike in shipping volume.
With the holiday shopping season around the corner, package delivery companies like DHL Express are ramping up. DHL Express expects overall volume to increase 12% during the holiday season, with Dec. 19 being the peak day for shipments. On that day, delivery volume could be as much as 89% higher than the average day. But DHL Express isn't just seeking a volume spike at the holidays. International volume has been increasing by nearly 7%, according to Ken Allen, CEO of DHL Express. "Seven percent sometimes does't sound like a lot, but that's 400 tons," he explained. DHL has been ramping up investments to handle the increased volume, with $185 million in investment planned for 2016 to 2017.
